Please note that all new guided tours are considered commercial activity, and as such, are subject to regulation under CMHC Granville Island’s operational requirements and policies.
At Granville Island, we are committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and high-quality environment for all tenants, and visitors. As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance the overall experience on Granville Island for everyone, CMHC-Granville Island is currently reviewing and developing a comprehensive tour program.
Effective immediately, all new third-party tours and requests to provide a tour on Granville Island are temporarily suspended. We are taking this time to establish a clear and consistent framework for managing all tour activities on Granville Island.
This decision comes in response to the overwhelming volume of tour requests we have received in recent months. While we appreciate the interest in Granville Island, the current level of demand has made it necessary to pause and reassess how third-party tours are managed and conducted for consistency and to not disrupt daily Island operations or compromise the safety and privacy of our tenants.
This pause allows us to:
- Align a standardized and informative visitor experience for all third-party tours on Granville Island
- Ensure all visits align with Granville Island’s safety and operational standards
- Protect the privacy and comfort of our tenants
- Regulate commercial activity in accordance with Granville Island’s operational requirements
We anticipate resuming all third-party tours in the future, once the new program is finalized and implemented. During this interim period, any new unregistered or unauthorized tours will be kindly asked to leave Granville Island.
We understand this may cause inconvenience and sincerely appreciate your patience and cooperation. Updates on the new visitor program and the resumption of tour requests will be posted on our website: Granville Island – Vancouver, BC
CMHC Granville Island reserves the right to strictly enforce this policy for current temporary suspension of New Third-Party tours on Granville Island. Non-compliance may result in enforcement actions depending on the nature and frequency of violations and the following measures may be applied:
- Fines and Penalties: Unauthorized/New tour groups conducting tour activities at Granville Island may incur warnings and/or fines, starting at $250 per infraction. These fines may increase with repeated infractions, as determined by CMHC Granville Island.
